Dress shabbily and they remember the dress; dress impeccably and they remember the woman.” – Coco Chanel
I grew up and currently live in Montreal, Canada, and enjoy the winter. However, it can bring cold, windy, and at times icy weather. It gets as cold as −30 °C (−22 °F) every year. Considering that human beings do not have fur, you never get used to the weather. If you live in a cold climate you can easily relate. And so, you know it’s tricky then to balance being warm and looking classy in the winter. I’m going to give you some of my best practical tips.
Quality elegant black coat
Since your winter coat is one of the every-day items that you wear, it is best to choose a proper one that elevates your whole appearance. If your funds are limited, invest in at least one high-quality black coat. Make sure that it is thick. Also, it must work for both day and evening, and suit your body. Opt for a mid-length or long coat instead of a short one. Short coats are a bit too casual and not as versatile. On the contrary, longer length coats complement every dress and pant. Overall, they looks more sophisticated too.
Long sleeve dresses
Why choose between fashion and function? With long sleeve dresses, you can stay warm and still look chic. One of the biggest mistakes women make, though, is they wear shoes or no stockings with dresses in winter conditions. Those two fashion faux pas scream trashy and vulgar, and that’s never how you want to be perceived. In the winter, wear those long sleeve dresses with a pair of tights or hosiery and an elegant pair of boots to complete the look.
Over the knee boots
Every woman should have a pair of over the knee boots in her wardrobe. They are still a classy boot. Whether they be high-heels or flats, they can dress up a stylish pair of jeans. However, to achieve a polished look, the best way to wear your over-the-knee boots is with a classy mini dress. It’s a playful and tasteful way to show off your legs and express sensuality.
Turtle necks and v-neck sweaters
Knitwear, in general, are a must when winter hits. I’m not a huge fan of thick and bulky sweaters. They make you look wider than you are. That’s not the look that you want to strive to achieve. High-quality thin turtle necks are more flattering and feminine.
If turtlenecks are not an option for your body type, opt for a v-neck sweater instead. They are feminine and classy and worth having them in multiple classic colors too. Keep in mind that the clothing of a high-value woman looks like it was made just to fit her. She never needs to show a lot of cleavage to get attention.
Monochromatic outfits
If you are new to monochromatic outfits, and aren’t sure where to start, choose colors such as black, navy blue, or gray. Meghan Markle is a woman who knows how to put together monochromatic looks that are high-end and command attention. If they can work for her, they can work for DIVAS too.
If you’re feeling bold and confident, you can also experiment with aubergine, military green, off-white or dusty pink. These colors are hot this year and signal fashionista elegance. Whichever you choose, be sure that they suit your complexion, eye color, and hair color.
