Four Classy Champagne Cocktails

I only drink champagne on two occasions, when I’m single and when I’m not

The first time I pressed my lips onto the comfort of a fine-stemmed champagne flute and felt the comforting sensation of soft bubbles dancing in my mouth, I was in love with this drink for seduction. Champagne cocktails are so chic and classy. They are perfect for New Year’s and almost any celebration, holiday, or special occasion. From classics to a champagne mojito, cocktails with bubbles are just intoxicating. Here are my four favorite champagne cocktail recipes for you to explore. The type of champagne you use depends on your tastes. Get something you enjoy drinking. Brut champagnes are less sweet, sec is somewhat sweet, and doux are sweetest.

Classic Champagne Cocktail

This elegant, simple, sparkling cocktail dates to the 1850s. With a hint of added flavor from a bitters—soaked sugar cube and added aroma from a citrus peel, this classic champagne cocktail lets the bubbles take center stage.

Ingredients

  • 1 sugar cube
  • Angostura bitters
  • Champagne or sparkling wine, chilled
  • Lemon or orange twist, for garnish

Instructions

Soak the sugar cube in Angostura bitters and drop it into a champagne flute. Top with champagne or a glass of sparkling wine. Garnish with a lemon or orange twist.

Champagne Mimosa

Champagne cocktail Mimosa with Grapefruit

A classic champagne mimosa is a blend of one part champagne and one part orange fruit juice. Variations of the classic are plenty; cranberry mimosa, pomegranate mimosa, pineapple mimosa, are just a few. The version I share here is a grapefruit mimosa.

Ingredient

– 1-part grapefruit juice                                                                                                    – 2-parts champagne or chilled sparkling wine, chilled

Instructions

Fill champagne flute with champagne 3/4 of the way and top with grapefruit juice!
