“If you want to conquer the anxiety of life, live in the moment, live in the breath.”
When your mind wanders, where does it end up? Do your thoughts fill you with optimism, or do they fill your fear? Examine your thoughts because what we think can affect what we become. Our thoughts manifest our reality, and our thoughts can control how we feel.
We know to make time to declutter and organize our living spaces when it is time. But how often do we schedule a time to sort and analyze our thoughts? Many of us have years of negative thoughts and beliefs that no longer serve us. These thoughts are living rent-free in our minds. More than likely, they have you in a mental chokehold, preventing you from living life to the fullest. If you want the mental shackles off, learn to release those negative thoughts. Inevitably, when the head is over-flooded, frustration and anger sometimes set in. It can then feel almost impossible to be the CEO of your life, directing it up a peaceful path to fulfillment. Thank heavens, just applying a few methods can give us the power to change our thought patterns.
I am somewhat of a clean freak. Also, I do my best to maintain an organized environment. Every item has a home. I practice doing deep breathing to clear my head. Once upon a time, though, my thoughts were littered with too many dark reminders from my past. Doubts and disappointments seemed to follow me around, never letting up too. Negativity would play over and over like a sad movie with no happy ending. That lasted for two long years.
Finally, one morning I was sick and tired of being sick and tired of my life. Determined to rid my thoughts of negativity, I set out on a journey. I became aware of where my thoughts were drifting, and I stopped letting the negative ones linger for too long. By recognizing these thoughts, I was able to sort them. I faced them instead of ignoring them and allowing them to last. Luckily, I felt and saw the difference this made. I was amazed at how clear my mind became when I opened it to see the beauty within and around me. Through daily practices and efforts, this has changed my life. I now choose to trust in myself instead of my ego being in control. It was then that fearing the unknown changed to trusting the process of life.
Here is what I did to get out of my head and get into the moment of life:
Keep a journal
Putting your thoughts to paper is a great way to express and release them. When we do not let our thoughts out, they stay bottled in our minds. Let your thoughts and feelings out. Journaling helps you understand yourself better, reduces stress, and helps start the healing process.
Take a Deep Breath
Our days can be so filled with chaos, making it challenging to stay mentally afloat. Take time each day to pause and breathe. Your breath is the only thing that can ground you. Breath in and out deeply through your nose, and take in as much air as you comfortably can. Then release it, and focus on emptying your lungs.
Have fun outside
Being outside in the fresh air makes me feel at ease and happy. Here is where I focus on myself and remove myself from the fast pace of life. It is a place to relax my mind and be fully aware of where I am and what I’m doing. When you are having fun in nature, mind clutter will drift away. So having fun is essential.
Appreciate what is around you
Take the time to see the beauty around you. When you find yourself in your head, pay attention to where you are, look around. Find the beauty in your surroundings. It could be in something as simple as the sky, the way the clouds move. I love looking up and seeing a pretty blue sky. By acknowledging beauty through the eyes of love and appreciation, you can see where you are and be there. It helps to stop the mind chatter and bring you to the present moment.
Love what you do
It is imperative that you love that job you are doing and get along with your co-workers. So choose your work environment wisely. Do what makes you happy and keeps you motivated and inspired. There are always opportunities to do this and to change what you are doing in life for the better. Life is short, therefore, live life with passion.
